Storm update 3 – Aftermath

Irene is now officially over, we have some pictures to summarize the event.
Just so you’d realize – we were really lucky up here. North Carolina and Maryland took most of the energy from the storm.
We were mostly worried about flooding since we are at the foot of a hill and are in a semi-basement apartment.
We made preparations but luckily, we didn’t need it.
So here is our plastic wrapped recliners:

The couch was also all set and we had towels on the window ledges and rubber boots ready.
We went to sleep with most electrical outlets unplugged and this is what we ended up with:

This was the height of the storm – notice how fast the clouds are moving.

This is later that day:
I didn’t eat it BTW

Arlington didn’t get damaged much, our neighbors did experience power outages but they are god now.
Oh, and there is this:

And this is mostly because of rain, not extreme wind. The ground was so wet that the roots were just puuled out of the mud. This is as bad as it got – nobody got hurt (here) so we are lucky enough.

That’s it for now, I’ll update with a happier post and try to give more this year.
